Assignments are due 30 minutes before the next time you come to class.

Typically, the assignments that you will have are:

Finish and submit classroom activity over the section covered in class.
MyLab HW over the section covered in class.
Watch the next section videos found in Modules tab in Canvas and take notes.
Take a quiz over the new set of notes.

MyLab Registration Instructions: walks you through the steps of how to register for MyLab. Buy the access code from the UTPB bookstore, purchase directly at the website, or buy the 2 week free trial for now so you do not get behind on assignments.

Here are a few helpful tips concerning the class:

There are notes for EVERY section and videos on what you need to learn in Canvas, Modules tab. Print out the notes (4 or 6 slides per page), keep a binder, and watch the videos BEFORE you start the homework.
Start on your assignments as soon as possible.
If you are not dedicating enough time into the class it will be very difficult to succeed. In order to be successful in an online math class like this, time management and self-discipline are critical.
The general rule of thumb is that for each hour spent in class, a student should spend 2-3 hours of study time. https://www.collegeparentcentral.com/2010/02/is-your-college-student-investing-enough-time-studying/ This means you should spend 8-12 hours per week watching the videos, taking notes, doing homework, and studying.
Come see me during office hours if you have any questions concerning the class or the material.
Please do not ask me to reteach the material, as I work very hard to organize the notes and videos each week in order to help students learn the material. I am happy to answer questions you are still struggling with AFTER you have watched the videos and taken notes. Please let me know when you will be coming, as sometimes I have appointments or are running errands.
Use the View an Example option to help you with problems you may be struggling with. But then do the problems again WITHOUT using the study plan and no notes in order to ensure you actually understand the material. Remember the ultimate goal is to know the information for the test not just complete the homework to get a grade. I encourage you to use the Study Plan option in MyLab to look for the type of questions you had to View an Example for.
