Objectives

By the end of this section, you will be able to:

  • Use the shell method to find volumes of solids generated by revolving regions about the y-axis.
  •  Use the shell method to find volumes of solids generated by revolving regions about the x-axis. 
  • Use the shell method to find volumes of solids generated by revolving regions about given lines.
  • Find volumes of solids of revolution using the washer and shell methods.. Compare methods for finding volumes of solids of revolution.
