Apply and practice what you learned in week 6
In keeping with what you covered in class this week, you have two assignments to do to demonstrate that you're integrating what you covered in class with the preparation work you did before class.
Online discussion boards are often used to take the place of in-class discussions about a topic. As in class discussions, you should come prepared by having completed your reading assignment before you post. You should also include references to the reading in both your initial post and in your responses to classmates. Cite all references to outside sources, including the assigned reading, as though you are writing a paper. The difference between discussions in person and discussions online is primarily time. You might spend 50 minutes with your classmates discussing a topic in a face-to-face class; in an online class, you'd spend just as much time on a discussion board, but it may be spread out over multiple days. Different professors will use the tools available to you in different ways, so pay attention to what they ask you to do. Your job is to engage in an online discussion with your classmates--not just post and forget about it, but to keep up a conversation over time.
