Dear Class,

I have posted the recording of today's video where I go over the entire review under the Modules tab in Canvas.

Correction: on number 2, they are asking you to find the absolute max and min on the open interval (a,b). The function IS continuous on the OPEN INTERVAL.

This is a reminder that Test 3 will be on Monday. You must have the Test review completed with at least an 80. Have your folders ready to be checked then.

Covid and other illnesses If you cannot join face to face due to illness, join through Teams. You are not allowed to join through Teams unless you have spoken to me ahead of time. Everyone with Covid symptoms or exposure must report at http://reportcovid.utpb.edu Excused absences will be granted with a doctor's note or verification (possibly delayed) from the UTPB Covid response team. If you are ill without documentation, join through Teams, AND complete the corresponding classroom activity before the due date in order to receive an excused absence. Since face-to-face learning increases your chances of success immensely, I reserve the right to exclude you from the excused absence opportunity if you attend through Teams repetitively.

The University also offers the BINAX Now rapid testing for free on campus. This test works best to identify COVID-19 in those individuals with symptoms. Testing can be requested via the Report COVID form

Structure of the class:

In Class:

Turn in previous classroom activity. Due 30 minutes before class in Canas.
Go over Checkpoint problems from notes. Take notes as we go.
Classroom activity

For homework:

Finish classroom activity.
Complete MyLab Homework over section covered (due 30 minutes before class begins)
Watch videos over particular section and fill in powerpoint notes.
Quiz over the section you were supposed to learn on your own. (due 30 minutes before class begins)

We will be learning the material this semester using flipped instruction. You will be asked to watch a video lecture and fill out the powerpoint skeleton notes over the material that was watched. You will have a quiz at the beginning of class over the material. If you are late or absent, you miss your opportunity to take the quiz.*

Class time will be used for active learning activities. Each classroom activity and MyLab HW will be due at the beginning of the next class. (You can turn in at the beginning of class or submit through Canvas). If you are late or absent, you miss your opportunity to submit your activity.*

Most days, MyLab homework will be assigned after class in order to solidify what has been learned in class.

Participation in the in-class activities and on the homework is required in order for you to succeed in the exams.

How to be successful in the class:

1. Come to class and be prepared. This means you watched the videos and took notes. You have your supplies like your folder, pencil, calculator, etc. This is the single most important factor that contributes to your success!

2. Have a great attitude. This goes a LONG way.

3. Participate, ask questions, get involved.

4. Get help before it is too late. Read over your notes after every class, watch the videos I have in the Modules tab, go to the success center for free tutoring or get help from another student, and do the homework.

5. When studying for the test, go through the review (remember you MUST make an 80 on the test review in order to be able to take the test) ONE LAST TIME WITHOUT any notes, so that you prepare yourself properly.

Etiquette in the Virtual Classroom:

Camera must be turned on during the duration of class if you are attending online.
Mute your microphone when not speaking
Participate and keep a positive attitude
No driving during class
Give the synchronous times your UNDIVIDED ATTENTION: no music, phones, other websites or other work.
Take notes by filling out the powerpoint notes during class.
